WELCOME
to the website for the World Day of Prayer and Action for Children (DPAC). The World Day of Prayer and Action for Children is a movement which partners faith-based organizations, civil society and governments to improve the lives of children, their families and communities.

The World Day of Prayer and Action for Children:
  • recognizes that there are enormous challenges facing our children, their families and communities
  • acknowledges that while the solutions are frequently well-known we cannot act alone; and therefore
  • builds a bridge between people of faith and people of goodwill to reflect, pray, and meditate and then take a measurable concrete action to improve the lives of children
We invite people of all faiths who care for children, to celebrate the World Day of Prayer and Action for Children on Universal Children’s Day which is 20 November. On that day which coincides with the anniversary of the most universally embraced human rights treaty – The Convention on the Rights of the Child--moments of prayer, silence, meditation and reflection will be held in places of worship and veneration on a common theme that relates to the wellbeing of children. Services and acts of worship may be held by particular religious communities, as well as interfaith ceremonies and rituals where people from different faiths come together to pray and recommit themselves to work for children’s well-being.

Special efforts will be made to strengthen our ability to listen and work in partnership with children to build communities characterized by respect and understanding. People of all faiths are encouraged to then take action with others in their own communities to improve the well-being of children.
