Vision & Mission
The World Day of Prayer and Action for Children envisions a world in which all children have a joyous childhood: where they can play, learn and grow, where they are loved, respected and cared for, where their families are supported to secure children's health and safety, and where their human rights are protected and fulfilled.
A World Day of Prayer and Action is a movement connecting people of religion and goodwill who are committed to work together toward a world fit for children where all children are free from violence. Guided by our religious teachings and values, inspired by the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the United Nations Secretary General's Study on Violence Against Children, we particularly commit ourselves to protecting the rights of children to live in safety and happiness and to develop their full potential. In our prayer, meditation, worship and action, we hope and affirm that our world can be transformed into a place where children flourish. While prayer and action for children are certainly needed every day, we will celebrate Universal Children's Day on the anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child each year on 20th November with prayers and common action in support of initiatives that enhance the lives of children. Children are both beneficiaries and participants in World Day initiatives.
